Reciprocating Compressor Finite Element Analysis

Reciprocating compressors are complicated machines, and consequently have very complex geometries. Reciprocating compressors typically have low structural natural frequencies that can by excited by the mechanical and pulsation harmonics in the system. To accurately predict the structural natural frequencies in the system, a detailed model of the structural geometry is needed. This makes 3-D finite element modeling the most practical method for determining the structural natural frequencies in the system.
